The orchestra sonata was created on the occasion of the youth music camp 2019 of the BVBW, to which I was invited as conductor and composer together with Dirk Mattes and Dominik Wagner. The piece, which is characterized by the late romantic style, follows the sonata form in a broad sense. Although it is not particularly difficult in itself, the numerous open passages and rapid changes in tempo require most players to play at an advanced level.
Some may recognize the final movement from Dvorak’s “New World” in this piece. Some people don’t deceive, because just that sentence was enough for me to create this “style copy”. In contrast to Dvorak, however, I have no themes and motifs from 3 other movements at my disposal, so that there are strong deviations very quickly. Despite everything, with a bit of imagination I recognize the form of a sonata-form in the movement. For a lecture, I have therefore created a structural overview of my sonata, which in one way or another clearly shows how the thematic material is developing.

Additional information:
- All the tempos are only a lose direction, however the give a good hint, on how the parts stick together.
- As soon as the tempo gets fast enough, make it a walz! The 3 alway aims for the 1!
- The following parts are not obligatory and cued elsewhere: Oboe 2, English Horn, Sopranino Clarinet, Alto Clarinet, Bassoon 1, Soprano Saxophone
- The Clarinets and Horn-parts contain obligatory divisi.
- If there is only one Tuba player, the bottom part is to be played.
