Elytra

This little piece, which got its name from the wings of the beetles, was created from a small melody exercise. It is deliberately kept uncomplicated and is ideal as a short open-air piece for the intermediate level.

In “Elytra” a lively melody is the main theme. The tempo increases from section to section. For this and for the modulation, my fifth/third motif from “Patroullie” is woven in, but without the originally generous drifts to all areas of the circle of fifths. For festive occasions it is advisable to double the tenor drums. Since the piece also served the purpose of dealing with the cast of the brass band, the corresponding parts also exist for this piece. On request, these are simply supplied additionally and at no extra charge.
